Clinical Hypnotherapy

Have you ever driven a car and suddenly realized you can't remember anything about the past few miles? Maybe you woke up one morning and found yourself wonderfully relaxed; not asleep but not quite awake either, just somewhere 'in between'? You have been in hypnosis!

Hypnosis has undeservedly been shrouded in mysticism, vilified in Hollywood blockbusters and equated to mind control. Nothing could be further from the truth: Recognized by many branches of orthodox medicine as a safe and efficient treatment for a wide range of issues where psychological factors are concerned, Clinical Hypnotherapy is renowned for its capacity to create profound and lasting change on an often astonishing scale in very short time by working directly with the subconscious mind, the 'store house' of all our beliefs, learning and emotions.

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about hypnosis, it is a completely normal, relaxed state of mind and one we enter naturally several times throughout each day without even being aware of it. You are fully aware of yourself and your surroundings and in control at all times; it is impossible to get 'lost' in hypnosis or be made to say or do something you wouldn't want to.

Generally Clinical Hypnotherapy can be divided into two parts:

  • Suggestion work for easy, straightforward issues such as exam nerves, smoking cessation or nail biting. The therapist uses carefully worded suggestions that 'overwrite' limiting beliefs held by the subconscious and replaces them with empowering alternatives.

  • Analytical work for more complex issues such as certain panic attacks, depression or fears and anxieties where the reason is unknown. Using a light hypnotic state, hypnoanalysis is used to discover and eradicate the source of the unwanted behavior, which in turn removes the 'driver' that triggers the problem, such as a panic attack for example.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP - the 'Language of Excellence' - provides a range of methods to address negative beliefs and behaviors and replace them with empowering alternatives. Some NLP techniques allow you to change your mental state almost instantly. NLP is very efficient at achieving results with a wide variety of issues, especially where performance management (for example in sport, career or business) is concerned.


SymbioDynamics™

A very new form of therapy, using traditional therapeutic models such as cognitive behavioral therapy or counseling, but with a new 'slant', creating a modern and outstanding therapy model for rapid positive change with a very wide variety of issues and especially where conventional talking therapies such as counseling have achieved only limited change.
